GRANDE PRAIRIE – Aquatera is pleased to announce that the new Bulk Water Station located at 711079 RR 73 near Dimsdale opened on August 5, 2020, with the official ribbon cutting celebration held on August 26, 2020.

The station is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides customers with credit card access, adequate queuing for trucks, increased outlets to improve fill time and a heated concrete pad. The new station will provide another location for customers to access bulk water, in addition to Aquatera’s three existing locations:

  • 12109 97 Avenue in Grande Prairie (West)
  • 13405 97 Street in Grande Prairie (North)
  • 10009 Elevator Road in Sexsmith

“Originally, it was a future concept as part of the Water to Wembley project however, due to the interest from the community, the project was expedited,” says Vaughn Bend, Chief Executive Officer of Aquatera.

The County of Grande Prairie funded approximately $200,000 for the paving around the Dimsdale Bulk Water Station.

In addition to the bulk water station, the booster station is also located at this site which allows Aquatera to provide water to the Town of Wembley. The booster station was completed in the spring of 2019.

“The County of Grande Prairie was pleased to work with a regional partner on this project and invest in an initiative contributing to the development and vitality of a local community,” says Leanne Beaupre, County of Grande Prairie Reeve. “This announcement means an additional source for bulk water in the area and future needs are addressed with transmission line oversizing.”

The County of Grande Prairie contributed $1.1M for the transmission line oversizing and $450K for the construction of the booster station.  The overall cost of the booster station was approximately $2.75M.

“This partnership enables us to provide even better services to our customers by providing another location for our customers to access bulk water. Aquatera is proud to continue the provision of clean, safe water for our customers and all the communities we serve,” says Bend.
