Aquatera Shareholders Appoint New Board Member

January 26, 2016

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Aquatera’s three shareholders - the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie and Town of Sexsmith - voted in favour of appointing new board member Catherine Connolly.

The appointment comes after Dr. Kenneth Cory stepped down in July 2015 after serving 4 years on the Board of Directors.

“We are excited to have Catherine join our team of Directors,” says Aquatera Board Chair, Andy Beal. “The high level of business and financial acumen she possesses is just one of the things that stands out about Catherine. We are excited about the broad range of highly relevant experience and knowledge that she brings to the board.”

Catherine Connolly, PH.D., President of GIST Solutions Inc., is an executive leader with a track record of innovatively maximizing operational and financial performance. She has successfully lead several multi-year strategic plans, aligning vision, mission and value statements to prioritize diverse business opportunities.

Catherine’s vast experience includes many years of board experience, including 3 years on the Board of Directors for Chestermere Utilities Inc. as both Chair and Chair Finance & Audit. She has been the Chair of the YWCA Calgary and spent time with CEDA International Corporation, as well. She currently sits on the Investment Committee of the Alberta Teachers Retirement Fund.

Board of Director appointments are approved unanimously by Aquatera’s three shareholders to represent the shareholders in overseeing the operations of Aquatera.

“We are pleased to see the extensive experience and business background Catherine brings to the Aquatera board,” says Mayor Bill Given. “We look forward to her contributions, ideas and insights.”

"The County of Grande Prairie thanks outgoing board member Ken Cory and welcomes new board member Catherine Connolly,” says County of Grande Prairie Reeve Leanne Beaupre.

“We are pleased with Aquatera’s continued success in recruiting well-suited, capable individuals to join their Board of Directors year after year. With Catherine's years of leadership and financial experience, we’re confident that she will be an asset to the Board of Directors and will serve Aquatera shareholders well.”

“The Town is very pleased to welcome Catherine to the Board! Catherine brings a diverse background in work experience and education which we feel will make her a great asset to the current board of directors,” says Town of Sexsmith Mayor Claude Legace.
