Aquatera Now Offering Hydrant Maintenance Program

March 9, 2016

GRANDE PRAIRIE – Aquatera is launching a new Hydrant Maintenance Program that will assist property owners with red fire hydrants to ensure they are properly maintained.

Maintenance and testing of fire hydrants on private property is the responsibility of the property owner.

“All hydrants must be properly inspected, tested, flushed and serviced on an annual basis and immediately after each use in accordance with the National Fire Code of Canada,” says Teresa Souliere, Business Development Associate with Aquatera.

Aquatera’s testing and maintenance program certifies that hydrants are maintained in good operational condition and ready should the fire department need to access them.

Signing up for the program will ensure the hydrants are:

  • Inspected for operation and condition
  • Water level and drainage is checked
  • Hydrant access is confirmed
  • A hydrant flow test, reading and pressure test are performed
  • Isolation value operation are tested

Aquatera is also offering the Hydrant Plus Service, which includes an additional inspection in the fall to ensure the hydrant is ready for the winter. The Premium Hydrant Service includes three on-site visits during the winter season.

An inspection report and hydrant inspection tag will be provided to customers who receive the service.
