GRANDE PRAIRIE – Aquatera is pleased to announce temporary changes to their Infrastructure Charge Policy that permit the waiving of infrastructure charges for new multifamily developments applying to connect to Aquatera’s infrastructure.

“This decision is part of our ongoing commitment to stimulate economic development, promote sustainable growth, and support the development of affordable housing in the region,” says Vaughn Bend, Aquatera’s Chief Executive Officer.

Aquatera’s infrastructure charge, implemented in 2005, is a contribution by new development towards the costs of providing major water and wastewater infrastructure needed to support community growth.

Effective immediately, Aquatera is implementing a two-year relief on infrastructure charges within the Grande Prairie region for connection to Aquatera’s infrastructure for new construction of multifamily developments. Multifamily residence applications received after February 15, 2024 through December 31, 2025 will qualify for the program. Multifamily residences include apartment buildings, duplexes, multi and semi-attached dwellings, residential condominiums, and secondary suites.

The water meter fee will still be applicable to cover the cost of installation of the appropriately sized meter, which is determined by Aquatera with consideration to average monthly consumption, expected demand and range of flows based on the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Aquatera looks forward to collaborating with developers, builders, and stakeholders to contribute positively to the growth and prosperity of our community.
