Rob Mackin joined the Board of Directors in June 2018. Along with being a Director, Rob sits on the Audit and Risk Committee.
In 2013, Rob Mackin was granted the honour of serving the Town of Hinton as Mayor. During his term as Mayor, the community enjoyed steady growth and development. Rob focused much effort on advocating for the forestry industry, modernizing local planning and bylaws to better support economic growth, and was instrumental in helping kickstart the exploration of alternative energy projects in the region including deep geothermal.
Prior to being elected Mayor, Mackin co-owned a small business in Hinton and also worked as a consultant in the utility sector. Before moving to Hinton, Rob worked for over a decade in the utility sector in Calgary. This experience provided him the opportunity to be in on the ground floor of many of the changes as the Alberta energy market became deregulated, from the initial days of deregulation through to the launch of the first wave of micro-generation legislation. As well, Rob was involved the utility billing and customer care for a number of municipal utilities across Alberta.
Rob is currently the Director of Economic Development for one of the fastest growing communities in Canada; Beaumont, Alberta.
