Clean, safe drinking water is an important part of our business. Every day our staff - some of the highest trained in Alberta - oversee treatment of 21 million litres of water. What's really neat? We return over 80% of it to the Wapiti River as treated wastewater.

Earth

Living 20 years longer. Our landfill's life is much longer thanks to your recycling, improved compaction methods, our bio-reactor which recirculates leachate to improve decomposing, and a landfill gas capture system which removes harmful methane from entering the environment - this also equals 8000 cars off the road.

Innovation

The estimated cost of our wastewater treatment plant upgrade to meet regulations and future growth of the region is $45 million. Our staff, working with engineers looked at different ways to complete the upgrade, and saving 1/3 of that cost. That equals $1500 saved for every one of our customers.

Styrofoam Recycling at the Eco Centre

Now at the Eco Centre! Clean is the rule. Even the smallest piece of plastic or metal must be removed, and of course - no dirt please. Styrofoam cups, plates, food containers and trays, and packing blocks are all accepted. Click here for the Styrofoam flyer.

Fats, Oils, Grease, and TSS - What?

This stuff clogs our pipes. Bad. We spend millions of dollars keeping sewer pipes underground and at our treatment plant clear of fats, oils, greases and TSS (total suspended solids - or dirt for short).

We need your help to keep these items from going down your drain. If you work or own businesses that may be dumping things down the drain illegally, we want to help you comply with bylaws now.
