Grande Prairie, AB – The North Pole released a revised list of what it will take to get you on Santa’s Naughty List. While the list has changed little over decades, helping the environment by changing a habit has steadily worked its’ way to the top of the list when it comes time for Santa to choose those virtuous enough to make the nice list.

Added to the naughty list will be anyone who does not recycle. Luckily in Grande Prairie, recycling became much easier this past year.  It’s as easy as items being clean and dry and put in a blue bag instead of garbage. All paper gift wrapping, cardboard, boxboard, metal cans, and hard plastics numbers one through seven can now go into blue bags for collection day. While recycling is easy, reusing and reducing are just as simple. Make sure to reuse gift bags from last year, and be sure to save them for next year. This saves money and helps the environment.

Make sure to remove foil, twist tie wraps, plastic, and bows from your recycling, as these items cannot be recycled.  Aside from plastic bags and wrap, glass, and food waste, most waste from holiday unwrappings can be recycled in the curbside blue bag program. While this will help keep you off the naughty list because of your recycling habits, the rest, is up to you.

Quotes:

·         “Reducing, reusing and recycling are an important part of our toy shop operations here at the North Pole.”

·         “If I can make the changes at this time of year with everything I have going on, there’s no reason you can’t change your habits.”

o   Santa Claus, North Pole Inc.

·          “Get your blue bag to the curb by 7 a.m. if you want the recycle truck to pick it up. They start working as early as we do, not a moment to spare!”

o   Buddy Elf, North Pole Inc.

·         “Recycling is a waste of time. You should hold onto everything you find! Don’t let your gift wrapping be recycled into a book. Stack your garbage in your home for your friends to take a look!”

o   The Grinch, Perennial Naughty List candidate
