Refrigerant Handling and Certification Course

CONTENT: Course content includes the following topics - ozone depletion - the effects of CFC's on the atmosphere - environmental and health problems resulting from ozone depletion - national, provincial and municipal bylaws governing the control and handling of any refrigerants which contain ozone depleting substances or may contribute to greenhouse effect - Environment Canada's "Code of Practice" involving the: commercial/industrial systems residential systems domestic appliances mobile systems (automotive, heavy equipment) the legalities and importance of recovery, recycling and reclaiming of refrigerants This program is developed by the Government of Canada in cooperation with the Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute (HRAI) and is recognized throughout Canada as valid certification for the control of refrigerants.


In addition to the HRAI certification component, the instructor will demonstrate recovery of refrigerants utilizing recovery equipment on site and units requiring the recovery of refrigerant at the facility.


It should be understood that successful completion of this course in no way authorizes the participant to conduct servicing procedures. Only persons who are journeymen or apprentices in an applicable trade are authorized to conduct such servicing.


LENGTH: 10 hours delivered over 1 day

DATES: Session A February 23 & Session B February 24, 2012

TIME: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

LOCATION: Aquatera Waste Management Facility Grande Prairie

INSTRUCTOR: Glen Bone from NAIT

CLASS SIZE: 16 maximum per session


BRING: Steel-Toe Boots (mandatory) and a high visibility vest (if possible – we have some extra)
